There's an Easier Way to Collaborate on 3D Printed Parts
Stop getting stuck in long e-mail chains – there's an easier way to collaborate on 3D printed parts.
In today's fast-paced engineering environment, efficient collaboration can significantly reduce project timelines and enhance productivity. One powerful tool that facilitates this is the 3YOURMIND platform. Here's how supply chain and procurement managers can effortlessly collaborate with engineers on parts within this innovative platform.
Getting Started: The AM Part Identifier Panel
Once you're logged into the 3YOURMIND platform, navigate to the AM Part Identifier Panel. This serves as the central hub for managing all parts uploaded to the system.
From the Part List overview, users can quickly access any part they need to collaborate on.
Selecting and Reviewing Parts
To start collaborating, select a specific part you'd like to work on. For instance, let's consider the 'Pump Bracket' part. Clicking on this part brings up a detailed overview, including economic and technical information.
This feature is particularly beneficial for users who might not be familiar with 3D printing, as it highlights the potential savings and total cost of manufacturing for the part.
Communicating and Collaborating
Effective communication is key to successful collaboration. The platform facilitates this through a comment functionality located at the bottom of the part page. Here, engineers and approved users can leave comments, ask questions, and provide updates.
Additionally, the platform gives the option to tag other users in the left part panel, ensuring that relevant team members are promptly notified about new comments or open actions.
Tracking Part Progress
To monitor a part's workflow, users can refer to the part workflow progress bar at the top of the Part View. For our pump bracket, this bar indicates that the part is currently in the assessment phase. Moving the part through different workflow stages, such as qualification or production, is straightforward.
Simply click the 'Status' menu in the navigation section and select the desired stage. You can also reject a part deemed unsuitable for additive manufacturing.
Adding Information and Sourcing Parts
Additional information can be added to the part at each stage of the workflow. This ensures that all relevant details are captured and easily accessible to the team.
When ready to source parts from a supplier network, users can select 'Add to Basket' from the part navigation panel and confirm their selection in the pop-up window. This action transfers the part to the order management interface of the 3YOURMIND software.
